The Phenolphthalein Presumptive Blood Test is one of the most commonly used tests in the field and in the forensic laboratory to indicate the presence of blood. Phenolphthalein tests are particularly useful in the field to determine if that reddish-brown stain is blood or not and whether it is evidence that needs to be collected or ignored. Phenolphthalein tests are available as a single use pouch style or the traditional 3 part kit (SKU#1200). The pouch style Phenolphthalein based field test consists of a heavy gauge plastic bag containing three plastic-sleeved crush vials holding premeasured reagents. To use, place a small quantity of the stained material or a portion of a swabbing of the stain into the plastic bag, sequentially crush the color-coded vials, and observe the color change which develops. Having a truly portable test which fits into a shirt pocket removes the necessity of measuring, mixing, and storing reagents in the field which may leak or break. The premeasured reagents in sealed glass vials provide for ease of use and reliable results. You will always know how many tests can be performed with the tests on hand and a color change in the vials will indicate when they have expired. Pack of 10
