Blue light is used in general crime scene search to look for blood, hairs, fibers and other trace evidence. UV light is used mostly to locate serological evidence including semen and for assault cases to locate bruising. The UV (380nm + 395nm) and Blue (450nm + 470nm) each have multiple modes. Mode 1 combines the two peak intensities from the two distinct wavelengths, which provide more fluorescence or absorption compared to only one wavelength. The specific wavelengths can be selected individually in modes 2 and 3. The LEDs used in the Rook Blue and UV are very precise with a wavelength tolerance of ±3 nm, which means no light is wasted (outside the useful range). These lightweight (4.8 oz) lights are battery powered and have an aluminum 6061-T6 hard anodized housing. The Rook R3A Forensic ALS Kit includes the Rook Blue, Rook UV, Rook White (220 lumen), orange and yellow goggles, 3 rechargeable 18650 batteries, battery charger, and a carrying case.

UV Light 365 – 395 nm

Blue Light 445 – 470 nm

• Used For: field crime scene search, laboratory, medicolegal (including SANE, coroners and medical examiners) and hotel room inspection
• Evidence Identified: trace evidence (hairs, fibers, etc.), gunshot residue and biological fluids including blood treated with fluorescein and footwear (other) impressions 

White Light

• Used For: general field illumination, area search, and inspection
